What
is PND?
Clinicians
diagnose postnatal depression if it shows
itself in the weeks and months after childbirth,
but this may not be when it begins.
Many
woman can trace their feelings back to pregnancy.
Others claim the depression can begin anytime
in the first few years of parenthood. Whatever
its precise timing, postnatal depression
has a range of symptoms and varies in its
severity. You may feel unable to show your
feelings to relatives. You may seem so overwhelmed
that you are virtually disabled by it. Symptoms
vary according to the support and situation
you are in, how your baby is, the birth,
physical health and strength.
